Bushkill Township News

2/2/2010: House Numbering Ordinance passed.  All residents and businesses within Bushkill Township must purchase and install 6"x18" reflective address numbering signs, having green backgrounds and white letters, in accordance with installation requirements and other conditions of the new ordinance.  Signs are available for $15 (mounting hardware not included) at the Township building and must be installed by residents by August 1, 2010.  Copies of the ordinance are available at the Township building during regular business hours.

4/1/2010:  On Lot Sewage Disposal Ordinance passed.  The ordinance requires all new on-lot septic systems to be pumped every three years, effective immediately.  Copies of the ordinance are available at the Township building during regular business hours.

5/6/2010:  Zoning Ordinance Amendments addressing environmental protection provisions proposed by the Lehigh Valley Planning Commission for incorporation by Lehigh Valley municipalities passed for drafting by the Township's consultant.  The amendments will incorporate the Flood Plain, Woodlands, Steep Slopes and Geothermal language in the updated Zoning Ordinance.  In addition, the streamside setback will be 100 feet from the top of the ordinary high watermark for all stream channels.  Copies of the LVPC proposed model ordinances may be found on the LVPC website at:  http://www.lvpc.org/lvpc_site/commission/guidesRegulations.html.  The final regulations may differ slightly from the model language to best fit existing ordinances and township specific conditions.

6/3/2010:  Subdivision and Land Development Ordinances (SALDO) Amendment addressing public water connection requirements passed.  The amendment includes requiring water main extensions if the developer is within 1,000 feet of a public water main and requiring commercial/industrial recreation fees. 

6/3/2010: Outdoor Solid Fuel Burning Ordinance passed.  All new burners, or furnaces, must comply with the new regulation, effective immediately.  All existing burners must meet terms of compliance outlined in the ordinance by August 3, 2010.  Copies of the ordinance are available at the Township building during regular business hours.
